I let out an exhausted sigh, relaxing more into the bathtub as the maid pressed harder against my shoulder.
The warm water lapped against my skin, easing some of the tension that had built up over the day. I closed my eyes, letting the steam rise around me, the scent of lavender filling the room.
It’s been so long since I last enjoyed something so simple. Too long. “Harder,” I ordered, my voice sharp. The maid flinched and obeyed without a word. Good. At least someone remembers their place.
I sank deeper into the water, tilting my head back.
“Beta Jason had request you wear this clothes when coming to see him.” Another maid’s voice rang from the other side of the room. I dug my nails into my palm as I cursed under my breath.
