After dinner, which we had in the backyard, I was putting our son to bed, while Zane cleaned the dishes.
Once he was asleep, I quietly closed the door and headed downstairs.
I found Zane watching some sports games, so I sat beside him, and curled up to his side.
"Did you put him to bed?"
"Yeah, he's asleep."
"Good. Do you wanna watch the game?"
"I'd rather watch you."
I could swear I saw his cheeks tint with red. We stayed like that for a while, in complete silence, just enjoying each other's company.
"Have I told you lately that I love you, and that you mean the world to me, Ravenna?"
"You tell me that every day."
"Not enough, then. I'll have to start reminding you even more, everyday."
"I'm definitely not going to complain about that."
"Good, because you are my
