I woke with a start when I felt as though I couldn’t breathe. My chest was soaked in sweat, and my head hurt so badly that I could feel my brain throbbing from the pain.
It wasn’t the first time I had experienced that nightmare, just as it wasn’t the first time my head had hurt like this. What was new, however, was the feeling of fear that had settled inside me.
I took a deep breath and looked at the girl occupying the other side of the bed.
I love you.
I shook my head and got out of bed when I heard her voice inside my mind.
This had to be a mistake.
She couldn’t love me.
