"So... your father bought you an apartment?" Cassie exclaimed, staring at the keys in her hands. "And not just any apartment. It's in the best damn neighborhood in the city."
"You forgot to mention it's a penthouse," I muttered before taking another sip from the mug of hot chocolate in my hands.
Ugh.
Cassie's famous homemade hot chocolate tasted more like warm water than cocoa.
"You've got to be kidding me. First a car, now a penthouse. What's next? A pony?"
"A pony would actually be pretty awesome," I laughed.
"At least one good thing came out of all this." She sighed and flopped down onto the couch beside me. "Your dad admitted he's been a terrible father, and he promised to change."
