Selene's POV Helena smiled. It was a slow, satisfied curve of the mouth, the smile of someone who has just watched an arrow find its mark. "You know what things," she said. "I asked you a question. Answer it or stop talking." Her smile didn't waver. "You are hiding something from my son. Something significant. And the longer you wait to tell him, the worse it will be when it comes out." She tilted her head slightly, studying me with that cold look. "And it will come out. These things always do." I held her gaze and said nothing because she was right. And we both knew it. And the worst part was that I couldn't tell, standing there looking at her, whether she actually knew something specific, or whether she was fishing.
