Selene's POV
"You will be there on time," I said. It wasn't quite a question. It came out harder than I intended, like a quiet instruction.
"Yes, Selene."
"Seven o'clock."
"Seven exactly. Not five past. Not two minutes past."
The corner of Victor's mouth lifted. "Yes."
"You are sure? Because if something comes up with the council meeting and it runs late, you could always…"
"Selene." His voice was patient but steady.
"I'm just saying there are things that could delay you and maybe we should have a plan in case…"
"Selene." He said my name again, quieter this time, and pulled me closer until my back was pressed fully against his chest. His arms wrapped around me and he dropped his chin to the top of my head. "I will be there."
"I just need to know for sure."
