Melissa was quiet for a long moment, her fingers tracing the rim of her cup.
"You want the truth?" she asked finally.

"Honestly?" Melissa started. "I was hoping you would give Anthony a chance. A real chance."
The words felt like a punch to the gut. "What?"
"I have watched you with both of them. Victor and Anthony. And Selene, the way Anthony looks at you, the way he treats you, it's different. It's deeper."
