Selene's words echoed in my head like thunder that refused to stop. They slammed into my chest again and again, each one hurting more than the last.
I couldn't even beg her before I walked out of her room. There was no point. Her eyes had been cold, like she had already written me off and was just waiting for the dust to settle.
