Kael kept whispering, clawing inside me. “Take her. She’s willing. She smells like Selene. Come on Victor, we need her.”
I stared down at the girl still on the floor. She looked up at me with glassy eyes and trembling lips, pretending she was afraid, pretending she was innocent.
But all I saw was filth.
“You really did think I would fall for this? For you?”
She didn’t answer. She crawled closer instead, reaching for me again like she had a right.
Without thinking, my hand wrapped around her throat, lifting her with one arm. Her feet barely touched the tile as I pressed her back against the wall.
