Valen   When I awoke from Blaze’s influence, I didn’t have the same cold sweat and rapid heartbeat I usually had, like I’d been shaken out of a nightmare I couldn’t remember.   It was like waking up from a sleep I’d needed. Badly. My body felt rested, and my mind was still.   I sat up in my own bed, dressed in silk shorts. For once, Mira wasn’t anywhere to be seen.   There wasn’t blood and gore splattered around me, either.   I stretched, muscles stiff but responsive. My neck cracked loudly, and I groaned in satisfaction.   Had Blaze gone and gotten a massage? Why did I feel so light?   With a sigh, I sat on the edge of the bed, taking a moment to enjoy the stillness. Early morning light crept through the window, and the scent of daisies and daffodils floated on the breeze.
