“Facts,” Rett added helpfully.
I stepped back just enough to cup her face. “I’m not sorry, baby. You needed to know. I meant every word.”
She didn’t answer with words. Instead, she stood on her toes and kissed me.
Goddess.
She kissed me like she wanted to climb inside me and live there. Like she was trying to tell me she’d heard me, she’d felt me, and she was finally ready to give in.
I kissed her back, slow and deep and claiming. My hands tangled in her hair. I felt Rett’s fingers brush my side as he reached for her too, grounding all of us in that moment.
When we broke apart, her lips were swollen, her eyes hazy. And she was still smiling.
“It’s been a long day, babe,” Rett murmured, pressing a soft kiss to Pauline’s shoulder. “Let’s go to bed.”
