“You ever watch human sports?” I asked, cutting into my chicken. Angelica raised an eyebrow. “I’ve seen boxing matches. A few baseball games. Why?” “Hockey’s my thing,” I said with a shrug. “I play in high school. And I follow the human championship. The fights, the speed, the tension—it’s addicting.” She tilted her head, visibly intrigued. “Isn’t that the one where they skate and punch each other?” I grinned. “That’s the one.” She gave a soft huff of amusement, and my heart did a stupid flip. “Okay,” she said. “Explain it to me.” So I did.
