The moment the door closed behind her, I missed her.
It was ridiculous, really—she’d only be gone for a short meeting with Luna Alice, and yet the absence of her presence in the room made everything feel…less. Like the air had lost its taste, like the light in the room dimmed just slightly.
She had kissed me before leaving, brushing her soft lips against mine with that shy, smug smile that drove me fuc.king insane. And I’d watched her go, hips swaying even though she was still walking carefully from our earlier…activities. Goddess, I’d ruined her. Properly. Tenderly. Thoroughly. And now she walked like she’d just come back from battle.
A victorious one.
And f***k if that didn’t make me proud.
