Alek raised an eyebrow but didn’t push for details. He knew better than to get in the middle of Victoria’s chaos unless absolutely necessary. Alan, standing beside him, didn’t seem as patient. “You okay, Vic?” Alan asked, arms crossed. His sharp eyes scanned my cousin, who was still slightly flushed from our rushed conversation. “Peachy,” Vic replied, flipping her hair over her shoulder as if that would somehow erase the panic in her eyes. “Just some unfinished business to handle.
