The seer shook her head, her white hair catching the firelight. “You misunderstand. I am bound to this place. The earth beneath my feet is my tether. I cannot leave this cabin or cross the river that surrounds it.”
My stomach dropped. “What? You’re saying you can’t come with me?”
She nodded, her expression calm but resolute. “That is exactly what I am saying.”
