“No, Mom,” I muttered. “Then get your ass in the shower. We’ve got things to do.” Her tone brooked no argument, and I knew better than to push back when she used that voice. Grumbling under my breath, I threw off the covers and stomped toward the bathroom. “Fine!” I snapped, slamming the door behind me. The sound of laughter followed me, and I muttered curses under my breath as I turned on the water. “At least bring me coffee!” I shouted over the sound of the running water. By the time I emerged from the shower, wrapped in a fluffy towel and nursing a bruised sense of dignity, my room looked like it had been hit by a hurricane.
