Blaze’s POV
10:07 p.m. — South Carolina
“AVA!”
“I'm here, Blaze!”
I gripped my phone so tightly my knuckles turned white.
“Are you hurt?”
“No. Morgan and True are with me.”
Behind her, men were shouting. Someone ordered the hallway cleared.
“What the hell happened?”
“A man dressed in scrubs pulled a gun.”
My blood ran cold.
Edge was beside me.
“Put her on speaker.”
I did.
“Princess?”
“Dad, I'm okay.”
“Where's the shooter?”
“Security has him.”
“Is he alive?”
A pause.
“Yes.”
“Good,” Edge growled.
“Then he can tell us who sent him.”
Chain was already typing.
“True, I need the attacker's identification and the facility's security recordings.”
True answered from somewhere near Ava.
“Working on it. His badge is counterfeit.”
