“The one?”
“The woman who finally got this stubborn bastard to settle his ass down.”
“Jesus fuckin' Christ.”

Ava laughed.
“I don't know. He's still pretty stubborn.”
Dad nodded.
“Good. Means you've been paying attention.”

Connor took another drink of his coffee.
“She's known him five minutes and already has him figured out.”
“I've known him longer than five minutes.”
“Yeah, but you've only known us five minutes. Give it another ten, and we'll tell you all the embarrassing shit.”

Connor grinned.
