Blaze answered on the second ring.
“Darlin’?”
“Before you start, I'm fine.”
“That's usually how our worst conversations begin.”
I smiled.
“Miss you too, handsome.”
“What's happening?”
I glanced at Morgan, who was pretending not to listen.
“Gabriela Mendoza recognized the handwriting on the note.”
“Pierce?”
“That's what she believes.”
Blaze went quiet.
“Darlin, I don't like this.”
“Neither do I. But somebody left that bracelet for a reason.”
“Yeah. To get your attention.”
“Mission accomplished.”
“Ava.”
“Blaze, I'm not running off to investigate an abandoned building.
"I'm sitting in a secure medical facility with enough armed men outside to invade a small country.”
