Gene stayed for almost two hours.
And somehow, nobody made it weird.
That might've been the most impressive thing the Razor Riders had accomplished all year.
He drank with Dad.
Argued with Chain.
Called Train a dumbass over something that apparently happened twenty years ago.
Mom joined them for a while.
Nobody dragged me over.
Gene didn't keep looking at me.
I caught him once.
He looked away first.
That helped.
Blaze stretched beside me.
“Ready to head home, Darlin'?”
“Probably.”
Cloe frowned.
“You're leaving?”
“We've been together all damn day.”
“So?”
“So get your own life.”
“I have one.”
“Then go live it.”
She smiled sweetly.
“I like annoying you better.”
“Clearly.”
Blaze stood and held out his hand.
“Come on, Beautiful.”
