"This meeting with Samuel—it's going to give us exactly what we need. He's going to threaten Helen. Helen's going to bite back. They'll tear apart all pretense of civility, turning into true enemies out for each other's throats."

I pull out my phone. Show him the app that's been running since I walked into the cafe. Audio recording. Time-stamped. Admissible in court.
"Everything," I confirm.
"And how did you manage that?"
"The manager here happens to know Aiden. He was more than willing to give us access to the surveillance."
Jason looks at the phone. Then at me.
"You're amazing," he says, a twinkle in his eyes.
"I know." I pocket my phone. "Now we need to get back out there before they notice we're both gone."
