“I really don’t understand you. Why the f**k did you do that? Why did you lie to her?” Max glared at me and then blinked. He just matched my anger. “I can’t believe you f****d it up, man.”
I opened my mouth to explain, but Lex just walked into the living room. After our short pleasantries, he looked at me and Max. He instantly sensed a tension between us. Max looked away, and I remained silent.
“Don’t stop on my account.” He sat down and took his tea from Max.
“Your son is insane, Mr. Kross. He just lost it. Big time.” Max had met Lex many times, just right after he took me in. He liked Max. He was the one who found him and where he was deployed.
