"Mom!" I yelled from the passenger seat, twisting around to glare at Jake in the back. "Tell your son to stop kicking my seat! He's doing it on purpose, like a five-year-old!"
Jake smirked from behind me, his long legs stretched out as far as they could go in the cramped SUV, his foot nudging the back of my seat again just to prove my point. He was all sprawled out, tall and broad like always, his gym-built arms crossed over his chest, that stupid gray t-shirt stretching tight across his shoulders. "I'm not kicking anything, brat," he said, voice low and teasing. "Maybe if you didn't take up the whole front like a princess, I'd have room."
