Alex swallowed. Silence stretched, thick and heavy.
Then he spoke, quietly and carefully.
“He said he knows that you lied to Eve about him murdering her parents… when he never did.”
The air left my lungs.
My eyes widened, blood roaring in my ears.
“That statement alone should be the reason why you should end his life immediately!” I snarled, turning to face Alex, fury boiling over. “If Eve finds out I lied to her about that, she’ll never forgive me. He knows about it—so let him die now!”
I stepped closer, voice rising, face inches from Alex’s.
“I and Eve are already in a shaky relationship, and I’m still trying to fix it. Now imagine she hears this! Send him away to his death this instant before I kill you instead!”
