Juniper POV The elevator opened straight into the apartment, and I actually stopped breathing for a second. This wasn’t any apartment I’d ever imagined. It was a penthouse. The kind of place you saw in movies where people wore robes and stared at the skyline like it belonged to them. Floor-to-ceiling windows covered the living room, the city lights glittering below like we were floating above everything. The floors were dark wood, polished so clean I could almost see my shocked face in them. A massive kitchen island sat in the middle of it all, stainless steel and marble that probably cost more than my entire tuition. Everything was cold. Modern. Empty in a way that made my stomach drop. I stood there with my pathetic little suitcase, feeling like a stray cat someone had dragged home.
