I didn’t leave.
I told myself I would. It was obvious Nicole was trying to avoid suspicion and I didn’t want to add to it so I even got in my car, started the engine, and drove out of the parking lot.
I lasted thirty minutes before I drove right back.
What was even more pathetic was that I stayed in my car until I saw Lily come out. I stayed until I saw her pink car drive off before I got out of mine and rode the elevator back to Nicole’s place.
Footsteps approached from inside, quick and impatient. The door swung open halfway through her sentence. “Did you forget some—“ Nicole froze when she saw me, stumbling back slightly. “Tristan.” She breathed out.
