Nicole Harper ~•~ As soon as the clock struck five that day, I was the first to leave the office. I was tired of pretending I couldn’t see people whispering about me. The only good thing was that a handful of my colleagues, especially the ones whose desks were closer to mine, weren’t part of the gossipers. I’d come into work this morning quite excited because of my new car, but it didn’t take long for them to kill my spirit. Not in the mood to cook, I swung by the nearest drive-thru on my way home. The smell of burgers and fries filled the car as I waited in line, but even that didn’t lift my mood.
