Austin had barely stepped outside the Blackwood Industries building when she spotted Kaius and Eliot waiting near the front steps.
The moment Eliot laid eyes on her, his whole face lit up like someone flipped a switch.
"Mom !"he shouted, running full-speed into her arms.
He wrapped himself around her like a little koala."I haven't seen you all day. I missed you so much ! Can we have dinner together tonight?"
Austin crouched down so they were eye-level.
Her eyes softened as she brushed back Eliot's messy brown bangs.
"Sweetheart,"she said gently,"Mommy already has dinner plans tonight."
"With who?"Eliot's face drooped dramatically."Can we come too? We don't eat much, and Dad's rich. He could pay for everyone !"
