Lena rushed forward but froze when she saw Austin cradled in Kaius's arms.
Her smile dropped. Her eyes darkened. Jealousy hit her so fast she couldn't hide it.
She spent years trying to be the one Kaius cared about. Now Austin had taken that spot, just like that.
"What happened to Austin ?" Lena asked. She forced her voice to sound worried, but her eyes stayed cold.
Austin barely glanced at her. She didn't bother to reply. She already knew who had pulled the strings behind tonight's chaos.
Kaius didn't even look at Lena. His focus was on Eliot.
The boy's face was tense, but his voice was calm.
"Dad, you take care of Mom," Eliot said. "Uncle Ethan can drive me home."
Kaius gave a single nod. Then he carried Austin downstairs, his arms strong and steady.
