KNOW YOUR PLACE
BETTY'S POV
The guard stepped into the library and looked directly at me, his expression already irritated before he even spoke.
“Omega. The Alpha wants you.”
My fingers tightened around the book in my hands as I looked toward Jason. He was still sitting near the window, and for a second, neither of us moved because the guard's attention was fixed on me.
Then he turned his head toward the shelves.
Jason moved immediately.
He pushed the window open and jumped through it.
I watched him disappear outside, but the guard didn't see him leave. I quickly lowered my eyes to the book again, pretending nothing had happened.
