WHY DID YOU CHOOSE HIM?
BETTY'S POV
I knew where I was before I even opened my eyes.
The silver grass brushed against my bare feet, and moonlight lay over everything like a thin sheet of water. I had been here before. I remembered the quiet, the strange stillness, and the woman who had stood beneath the moon and spoken to me as though she could see every part of me I tried to hide.
I looked toward the place where she had appeared last time.
She was already there.
The Moon Goddess watched me with the same calm expression I remembered, but I couldn't bear it. I had so many questions, so much hurt trapped inside me, and seeing her standing there so peacefully only made something inside me crack.
“Why?”
