Eloise smiled silently, her expression distant yet knowing. He was right.
Aura had never been the innocent victim she had pretended to be. Eloise had always kept to herself, never feeling the need to explain herself to anyone. And Aura had used that silence to her advantage, spinning lies and causing others to misunderstand Eloise.
“Are you smiling, Eloise?” Sammy’s voice was thick with contempt. "What’s so funny? Are you happy now that Aura is dead? You got what you wanted, didn’t you? How shameless can you be?” He spat the words out like venom, his anger radiating off him in waves. “Stop smiling! Stop it now!”
