The sound of a throat clearing made Grier look up from where she watched as the portal closed behind everyone. She looked up at her father and gave a nervous smile. They hadn’t really been given an opportunity to talk since Lumi appeared in their dining room. “Hi Dad.”
“Hi sweetie.” He gave a shake of his head. “This might be the craziest Christmas I’ve ever spent.”
“I know right?” she made wide eyes and leaned into him. “Like what the hell is happening Dad? There are beings with wings and magical portals and I’m wearing an honest to goodness crown probably worth more than our entire town. I keep thinking I’m going to move my head the wrong way, it’s going to fall and smash. Thank heavens Lumi told me it is fastened magically and once it’s on, it can only come off through magic.”
