Just as I got to the house, I killed the engine and stepped out of the car. My lips parted and I blinked when I saw Conrad standing in front of the gate.
I saw another set of men standing behind him.
“But he said he wasn’t involved,” I whispered to myself as I approached him, my eyes burning with rage. “What the f**k are you doing here?” I asked as my fingers tightened around the grip of the holster at my hip before I even realized I was reaching for it.
Conrad turned around, his eyes raking over me from head to toe. “I came here to save my girl… isn’t it funny how I arrived before you?”
A semi-relieved sigh escaped my lips.
