“Do you think Sean likes me?”
I didn’t know when the words accidentally slipped out of my mouth.
Eve’s eyes widened. “W—what? Why are you… asking?” she replied carefully, her voice quiet.
I pressed a hand to my forehead. “I’m sorry. I wasn’t meant to say that out loud. It just slipped out.”
Eve let out a sharp exhale. “It’s cool. I’m not judging you.”
For the longest time, I’d tried my best to avoid talking about Sean with Eve. She knew about the whole arrangement and I knew she would think I was stupid if I started developing feelings for Sean.
