I went down the hall, rubbing a towel through my sweaty hair. I’d just come from the gym, and I hadn’t yet reached my room for a proper shower. I paused near the door to my father’s office when I heard Ellis’s voice from inside.
“This is extremely urgent, Alpha Forge. I have a man on the inside, a member of the council, who told me that Aiden is planning to strike tonight!”
I shifted position so that I could see my father sitting behind his imposing desk. His face was fixed in its emotionless mask. “Why would Aiden attack Two Pillars? We have a long history of peaceful and mutually beneficial relations.”
