Kane’s POV I spent the majority of my morning hunched over my desk, buried nearly up to my chin in both public complaints and plans for dealing with the rogues. I let out a harsh, frustrated breath. The issue felt like it was never-ending. Just when we think we have a handle on things, something else happens. My mind still hasn’t been able to overcome the incident during the Midsummer Festival. A crease formed between my brows. And if that wasn’t enough, the other half of my mind had become sorely enveloped by the thought of Evelyn and Alexander. The image of seeing Evelyn smiling and laughing so freely around that damn prince bothered me in some kind of unspoken way. ‘Our little wolf is so pretty when she smiles.’ My mouth pulled into an irritated sneer. Gods, how pathetic. ‘
