Evelyn’s POV Dizzy from being slammed against the wall, it takes a second for my vision to clear. As I blink my eyes, the world comes back into focus and I find myself face to face with someone. Kane. He has me pinned against the wall, anger softening on his face as confusion begins to replace it. He must have thought I was some sort of intruder. “What the hell were you doing?” Kane asks pointedly, searching my eyes. I swallow, realizing how dry my throat had become, the rapid rate of my heart.
