We managed to relocate the rogues in one clean process. We carefully moved each and every rogue into their temporary room due to the helpful preparations from the house staff.
Each rogue was given an extra dose of their usual sedative before being safely locked into their rooms. Kane’s expression remained closed off through the duration of this mission.
But I knew that beneath his stoic exterior was a man that was secretly hurting on the inside. And I felt the very same.
This time I was able to spend with him, although short, put a lot of things into a certain perspective for me. Kane and I both wished we could still be together under the same roof. He missed me just as much as I had been missing him.
