Evelyn’s POV
Goddess. Kane is sure laying it on thick. Between the way he’s holding me to the intensity behind his stare as he regards Alexander, it all seems a bit much.
However, even if it feels like he’s overdoing this performance, I figure I have no choice but to comply. Denying him could raise some suspicions that neither of us need, so it’s probably best that I go along with this.
I can tell by the look on Alexander’s face that he wants to argue, though. But he never gets the words out.
