Kane’s POV Whether or not Evelyn was aware, I’d been keeping a close eye on her. Ever since we returned from the battle, I’d been searching for any visible signs of her emerging Alpha. While Dr. Borsheim told Evelyn to keep a journal on herself, I started keeping one myself. For the last couple of nights, I found her sleep to be broken and restless. Evelyn would fall asleep almost as soon as we turned out the lights, but as soon as her body entered that state of REM, she would begin to toss and turn. Sometimes, she would mumble something incoherent or even whimper as though she were in pain. I’d carefully nudge her and rouse her from whatever nightmare was haunting her.
