I reached out and gently smoothed her hair back from her face. Her breathing evened out and the furrow in her brow disappeared.
I watched her for a few more minutes, just content to be near her. Then I lay down beside her, careful not to disturb her. I pulled her into my arms, her body fitting perfectly against mine. I closed my eyes, her scent surrounding me and let the exhaustion of the past few days finally claim me.
