D A M O N The next day, the atmosphere in the pack house was tense. The staffs were scurrying around, preparing for the arrival of the Alpha's mother. They knew all too well what kind of person she was, and they were not looking forward to her visit. I had told Kiara about my mother's visit that morning. I tried to be as gentle as possible, but I could see the worry in her eyes. "Do you think she'll like me?" She asked, her voice small. "It doesn't matter if she likes you or not," I said, taking her hands in mine. "I love you. That's all that matters." "But she's your mother, Damon." "And you are my wife," I said, my tone firm. "I'll be right there with you the whole time. I won't let her say or do anything to hurt you. I promise." She nodded, but I could tell she was still nervous.
