I stood in front of the mirror, staring at the ring on my finger.
I was engaged to Marcus. Not secretly. Not as someone else’s wife. Not as a woman waiting for her life to change. I was free.
Marcus had finalized his divorce too. After everything we had been through, both of us were finally out of marriages that had stopped being healthy.
My phone rang. “Hello?”
“Are you ready?”
I smiled the moment I heard Marcus’s voice. “Ready for what?”
“To see me.”
“I missed you.”
I looked at my ring again. “I missed you too.”
“Then come over.”
“I’ll be there soon.”
When I arrived, Marcus was waiting outside. The moment I stepped out of the car, he walked toward me. Neither of us spoke. He simply pulled me into his arms. I held him tightly, closing my eyes.
