Less than an hour after his departure, the calls began pouring in, demanding answers I didn’t have. Earlier that night, I had been upstairs with one of the girls. Not my favourite, not really. It changed too often to matter. One of the perks of my position was that nobody in the house dared tell me no, and after a night where I knew I may have gone too far, I wanted a distraction, noise, the kind of pleasure that asked nothing from me except money and a little attention.
