CARMEN Tim didn’t just sit beside me; he drew me in, fully. I was pulled onto his lap, arms wrapping around me like he was building a barrier around me where nothing else could touch me. My side pressed to his chest, his chin brushing the top of my head, one hand rubbing slow, steady circles into my arm like he already knew I was about to unravel. And I did. I unravelled completely, the reality of everything hitting all at once. I didn’t filter or hold back. Nor did I try to make it neat or easy to understand. I just spilled everything.
