How did Elena know about Elizabeth?
“What are you talking about?” I seethed. “How do you know Elizabeth?”
She tipped her head back and laughed.
“Oh, Lyra. You fool. There is so much you don’t know, but I do.” She took a breather. “Do you even know she wasn’t your biological mother?”
I knew that. But how did she know? How did she even know about Elizabeth to begin with? It hit me then.
I dialed back to the night Elizabeth died. The whole thing had felt so sus to me. How one minute she was fine and the next she was dead. I’d suspected foul play. Something happened to her. I had never, not once, imagined Elena being that thing. It didn’t make any sense.
It wouldn't be because she’s not the only one.
