Hailey’s POV I stood there for a moment after Ryan walked away, my breath shaky and uneven. My palms were still warm from where he had pinned them to the wall. My heartbeat was loud, louder than it should have been. I kept replaying the feeling of his breath brushing my neck and the way he had looked at me like he already knew my thoughts. I hated that he was right. I hated that he could read me so easily. But I walked back to the table anyway because this night was supposed to be for Roy. I straightened my dress, fixed my hair behind my ear, and forced myself to swallow down the knot in my throat.
