Scarlett POV The steady beeping and the smell of antiseptic surround me. When I finally manage to open my eyes, I expect to see Dante sitting next to my bed, but instead I'm alone. Where could he be? Before I can dwell on the fact that I'm alone, the door to my room opens and the last person I ever want to see steps inside. "Why are you here?" Her smile makes a shiver of fear run up my spine. I did not just escape one a**hole to be hurt by another. I move intending to stand to defend myself, but she raises her hands in surrender. "I am not here to harm you, Scarlett. Well, not physically anyway," she says. "What the hell does that mean?" She reaches into her pocket and, before I can react, she pulls out a folded paper. She throws it on the end of my bed.
