Freya had changed his fate, stopped him from scenting out Belladonna. She had shut or closed off the gift from Selena herself, to try and protect Belladonna's wolf from the unknown. She’d likely not been able to do that with Belladonna’s mother, or he doubted it.

It was likely he thought that Freya had not been there to save Belladonna’s mother, as she probably wanted to, not there for her birth, and the woman had likely suffered like so many other Citron Wolves before
